Released circa 2004 as an entirely new mold early Mustang in 1/72 and not a reissue of Academy's other early Mustangs. Note the plain "P-51" designation without a letter to indicate subtype — this was applied to RAF Mustang Mk.I aircraft that were withheld from export and operated by the USAAF. Many of these were later fitted out as dedicated reconnaissance aircraft and redesignated F-6A.
Markings are provided for:
- 41-37322, 154 OS/68 OG
- 41-37365, 111 TRS/68 TRG
The kit also includes parts to make a Jeep and cargo trailer
